In the last midterm elections, 42% of college students weren’t even registered to vote. Their voices went unheard, their issues unrecognized.
A poor participation rate is often mistaken for apathy, but the truth is college students are as politically active and engaged as ever. But many get entangled in administrative and legal red-tape that makes registration difficult if not impossible.
92% of college students polled say they believe more of their peers would vote if the process were easier.
That’s where the Student VOTER Act comes in. The legislation would require all colleges and universities receiving federal funds to disseminate voter registration forms to students when they register for classes.
Send an email urging Senator Schumer and Senator Gillibrand to help pass H.R. 1729, the Student Voter Opportunity to Encourage Registration (VOTER) Act. After you send the email, share this with your friends.
